The Victor Blue Devil fans and family saw six of their seniors sign National Letters of Intent in a ceremony on Tuesday. Three of the six (Camron Hay, Joey Pezzimenti and Regan Endres) will attend Albany, Alec Russell will attend Le Moyne, Shea Newell will be off to Mercyhurst and Cam Germain will attend St. Bonaventure.

The 2019 first team lists fifteen players and includes the six All-Americans previously announced."It`s always difficult to choose from so many talented players," said Section Five Chairman, Mike Simon.

# 2953  Haller Leads Victor to Fourth State Title

Victor won their fourth NYS Finals in five years today with a 9-7 win over John Jay.  Blue Devil’s senior goalie Liam Haller was the pillar that lifted them to their Title.  He finished with 21 saves (75%) and played one of the best games of his career in today’s matchup.  The Indians recorded 39 shots with 28 on cage (72% on cage).  Haller often faced not only the primary shot, but secondary shots from the doorstep; he was repeatedly on point and came up with multiple saves that were stellar.  Offensively, Jack LaRue (4g) and Camden Hay (3g-1a) led in scoring.  For John Jay, Jack Browne played the entire game between the pipes and recorded 2 saves.  Offensively, Dean Ford finished with 3g-1a.

# 2948  Victor Heads to the Finals for the Fifth Year

Victor heads to the State Finals for the fifth consecutive season after their 12-6 win over the Section IV Champion, Vestal.  The Golden Bears scored the last two goals to catchup in the final four minutes.  The Blue Devils led by eight halfway through the fourth quarter.  Leading in scoring for Victor were Camden Hay (3g-4a) and Joey Pezzimenti (2g-3a).  For Vestal, senior Matt Thrasher finished with 4g to lead his team.

# 2927  Victor Wins their Sixth Straight Championship

Victor secured their sixth straight Section Five Title with two goals in the final sixty seconds.  The Braves had taken a two goals lead with less than six minutes remaining and held on to a one goal lead with 1:00 left on the clock.  The Blue Devils never gave up and defeated Canandaigua 7-6 in regulation.  The game was a defensive battle with both goalies coming up strong.  Canandaigua’s Aiden Kenyon finished with 9 saves (7 in the first half) and Victor’s Liam Haller finished with 14 saves (including 5 in the fourth quarter).  Both goalies were named to the All Tournament Team.

# 2879  Fairport Hands JD Their First Loss

Saturday: DAY IN REVIEW: Fairport defeated Jamsville-DeWitt for the second straight season with a 10-9 win in the first overtime period. Colin Peers scored his third goal of the afternoon to give the Red Raiders the victory. Over the past eleven years, JD and Fairport have faced off once a year. The Rams were on a five year streak before the Red Raiders defeated them last year 14-12.

Saturday: DAY IN REVIEW: R-H won their third game with a win against Livonia-Avon. After leading for the majority of three quarters, RH had to fight back in the final five minutes to defeat Livonia-Avon 10-9. The Royal Comets had not scored in over 12 minutes when Nick Cowie scored the game winning goal with 0:17 left in regulation. (Story Continues).

# 1440  Victor and Penn Yan Continue to Final Four

Section Five had two winners in the New York State quarter finals in Buffalo today and two that finished their seasons. Penn Yan overcame a six goal deficit to beat Akron in overtime and Victor scored the first thirteen goals and beat Hamburg 15-3. Penfield scored two quick goals in the third quarter to tie at 5-5 but eventually fell to Lancaster 11-7. After Geneva posted a 6-2 lead, West Seneca-East rallied for an 8-6 win the Class C.

# 1337  Victor Holds Off JD for Win in Season Opener

Victor scored the first three goals of the contest and led the entire game in their 13-10 win over Jamesville-Dewitt.  Although the Red Rams kept the game close in the second half, they never tied the game.  Victor scored seven of the first eight goals before JD began their comeback with six of the next seven.  Since 2003, Victor and JD have played four times with each team now winning twice.
